let me start by saying im a 2hcp and have been playing golf for 30 plus yrs....i have always been a long ball hitter and have never had a problem getting to most par 5's in 2...

about 5 yrs ago i started the journey to gain those elusive 10yrds with my driver... i figure i have spent thousands of dollars on shaft's and driver heads and have driven myself insane, i could never find the right combo with the EXTRA distance i was looking for and my driving accuracy has gone to hell..

the best all around driver that i still own is a r9 with a tp7hd that iv had for 2 yrs, its been in my locker for the past yr because i was convinced if i kept trying more combos i would sooner or later find the holly grail somewhere.....

wtf was i thinking... i pulled out the r9 4 rounds ago and my driving stats( which i keep ) went from an avg of 55% over the last 1 yr or so back the the 75% that its always been at..... i seriously cant believe im that f#$%@#* stupid that i havnt realized this sooner... the last 4 rounds have been the most enjoyable rounds iv had in the last 1yr or so.... so what if im 145 into the green in stead of 135, seriuosly it really dosent matter to me 9 or pitch im just as comfortable with both...

i hope this helps someone before they throw away thousands of dollars for nothing!

I'm thinking the same with my 282. Newer is better, so it was cast aside. I haven't completely decided to go back to her yet, but she's warming up in the bullpen...

Good to hear your back hitting good drives with a combo that's obviously good for you.

BTW, I have a Mini Tour friend who let me try his Tour R9 with a Projectx 7A3 X in it and
I couldn't believe how good I hit that thing. My old bones must have been really loose that
night or something. Great feeling head though.

I just spent 2 weeks on vacation playing golf with my son, the Director of Golf at a big resort.

He has a Titleist 907 D4/ Project-X 6A4X that he absolutely kills! Talk about making the old dad feel even older! The Titleist D4 has a reputation of being somewhat low flying---but not in his hands with that shaft and his swingspeed.

He believes that the 907 D4 is the best driver Titleist ever made.

Anyway---many clubs that aren't the latest model, might still be fantastic when matched with a great shaft. Some of those Project-X shafts are really good.

I have the same problem, not with driver though but with putters. I have sucessfully used a Odessey SRT 2 ball, with a balanced face insert and just last month shelled out a hundred quid for a Scotty Cameron Newport !!!!! WHY !!, it has never made it into the bag ...

Heard and read alot about the new Taylor Made R9 maybe have a look at the end of season sale bargains and see whats out there to pick up

I was horsing around w/ a Cally FT Tour and found it to be about 10yds longer then my G15 but I miss way too many fairways with it so off to Ebay.
The Ping is a fairway finding machine and I'll gladly give up 10yds for that.
Golf is no fun from the weeds and trees. I tried hard to straighten out the drives w/ the Cally but to no avail. Gimme fairways or gimme death.
I always used to keep 4-5 Tour drivers laying around but now it's down to 1 at and it's a retail Ping w/ the stock Aldila Serrano shaft. Tried all those F7M2's F6M2's, Diamana Blue, White yada yada Tour Issue Txxxx, Cally TH, Cally Tour Authentic, Cally LCG low spin/high launch, changing 14g weights to toe etc etc etc and here I am w/ a basic retail offering and hitting the snot out of it and hitting more fairways to boot.
