Wondering what high-end 3-wood and hybrid shafts people are bagging -- bonus points for posts by those that prefer tip-stiff/butt-soft shafts.

I was thinking about trying the Fuji Tour Spec 6.2 and was trying to narrow the filed of complementary 3-wood and hybrid shafts. If I had to blind guess now, I'd be thinking Fuji TS 7.2 for the 3-wood and a VTS Black for the hybrid.

VTS black in hybrids and VTS silver in the fairway is good.....hitting a Phenom 50 in the driver and gained a few MPH, the Phenom is super stable as well, good penetrating flight with no spin, yet smooth as the Beta RIP was.....waiting to try a Fuji TS 6.2 a buddy just shafted in his driver though

I played my first round with it yesterday in the SF Long Hosel, maybe missed 2-3 fairways but never "sprayed" it. Very tight and stable, great penetrating flight and very low spin yet smooth as silk with alot of roll out and great into the wind IMO. I hit some BOMBS with it, it isn't going anywhere yet and I still have a Kuro Kage, a Graphite Design BB, and etc sitting here to piddle with... Shaft doesn't feel light at all, built it at 45 1/4" and D3 as usual and probably gained a few mph SS if I had to guess based on a few drives at my normal club which is a very very windy links style course, winner for sure from Aldila, reminds me of a RIP Alpha on steriods yet smooth as the Beta was. I out drove my partners on several holes and I play with them on the regular and they are usually a good 8-12 past me on a consistent basis, once in a blue moon I will get them, but I was consistently past one all day and got the other buddy 4-5 times. The thing for me is it was consistent, which is super important, could be a honeymoon but I had the best driving day yesterday I have had in a long time, yet the wedge game needs tons of work!

I'm testing a Fubuki K 80X in a Titleist 910f 15*.

It's a very hot shaft, producing flat out distance, with the great Fubuki K feel.

It's the longest 3 wood shaft I've hit so far.

I also picked up a Mamiya ProForce UST VTS Silver 85X in an 18* Adams Peanut.

It's the shaft Hunter Mahan is playing in his hybrid.

I have been playing the VTS silver in a peanut for about six months now and it is a great shaft. I just put it in the new Adams Super Hybrid VTS silver 100x. It's a FREAKIN ROCKET.

Rombax P95 in the fairway wood right now, it's a very good shaft but I'm always open to trying other stuff, may give the VTS Silver 9x a try. But not sure the Rombax in my 910FD is probably the best 3 wood I've ever had.

Just got a Fubuki HB Hy93X shaft for my hybrid.

I sure hope it plays as well as the 70 and 80 K series shafts.

Got to say that the Kuro Kage got me interested due to the price point and, if I recall, one of your posts where it seemed like that shaft was launching a little flatter than Fubuki K and still maintaining low spin.

Based on my exprience, you should see more comparable performance in terms of ball flight between DI and Kuro Kage. BB would hit lower than those two shafts.

Yes, that's correct. It's going to be a really popular shaft I think. The performance is really good and the price point for such a shaft is unreal. I hate to say that Kuro Kage is a great shaft for the price because eventhough it is, it's flat out just a great shaft. Just so happens that it's ultra affordable compared to shafts with similar performance. Truly a break through design in shafts with this one.

Bit the bullet and bought a Kuro Kage today. Was debating between the Kuro Kage and the GD BB, perhaps the Fuji VC 6.2 TS for a driver. If Kuro Kage works there then it seems like it will be a no-brainer for 3-wood and hybrid shafts.

The original Fubuki 93X hybrid shaft, I guess it's generally called the A or Alpha, that Im playing in a 17* Titleist 910H, is proving to be the best I've had.

What's different is that it's a .350 shaft shimmed into a .370 Titleist adapter, and tipped an extra 1/2".( !" total) It's standard length, but I use oversize grips and have replaced the standard 7 gram weight with a 9 gram.

I get a mid high, but very boring trajectory, and it's very easy to work the ball with confidence and control.

Has anyone hit both this shaft and the newer Ax Fubuki?

I'd like to know if there are any performance differences.

I know that the new shaft has a .370 tip.

All of the Mitsubishi hybrid shafts including Thump and original Fubuki had .350" tips, but Fubuki AX and Kuro Kage are now .370" thankfully.

Compared to the original Fubuki Hybrid, AX Hybrid seems to have a little softer bend profile and more kick in the lower part of the shaft. Definitely has a higher trajectory to it. I would say that Kuro Kage has a more comparable ball flight to original Fubuki Hybrid, but it's actually more stable in the tip section IMO.

Perfect!

That Kura Kage sounds better all the time.

Thanks Hoss.

I do like the Kuro Kage shafts that I have in my fairway woods a lot now, but you couldn't pry the hybrid shafts out of my hands if you tried. Those are my absolute favorites hands down.

Just got a couple of RBZ Tour Rescues with Oban Devotion 85-s hybrid shafts. Simply awesome feel. Get a great launch but it doesn't balloon. As for my fairway woods I currently have a RBZ Tour 3 wood with a Kai Li 80-S but love my ATTAS3 in my driver so much that I just got a 3wood with it. Loving that ROcketballz product!!!

Fujikura Vista Pro 90 is the shaft I must have in all my Fairway metals and hybrids. Though this shaft is no longer made, I bought enough extras to last me the rest of my golfing life.

:rolleyes1:
