Jason Day Leads Banner Weekend for TaylorMade-adidas Golf, Wins HP Byron Nelson Championship Playing Burner SuperFast TP Driver
Penta TP wins twice worldwide as Simon Khan Captures European Tour's BMW PGA Championship
Story: TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Jason Day, one of the first players to put the Burner SuperFast TP driver in his bag, notched his first career PGA Tour win at the HP Byron Nelson Championship on Sunday. Day, 22, earned his breakthrough victory playing the Burner SuperFast TP driver, TP wedges with xFT and the Penta TP golf ball. Five of the top six finishers at the HP Byron Nelson Championship used TaylorMade drivers.
In England, Simon Khan fired a 5-under par 66 to complete the biggest come-from-behind victory in the history of the BMW PGA Championship - the European Tour's flagship event. Khan, who accepted a sponsor's invitation on Monday, played the Penta TP golf ball en route to his second career European tour victory.
Additionally, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professionals Brian Gay and Blake Adams tied for second at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Adams, who finished tied for ninth in putts per round, played the Rossa Corza Ghost throughout an impressive week that included a second-round 64.
"Hopefully I can take those experiences that I had today and put it into future rounds, if I'm in the hunt. I'm still young and I'm just happy that I won my first tournament, and hopefully this is the first of many."
"I just want to keep working hard and improving every day and every week."
"The biggest key this week has been putting. My old trusty putter I had back on the Nationwide Tour and all that, my first event in Hawaii, the Wednesday Pro-Am first hole, my bag fell off the cart and broke my putter, another hiccup in my journey here. But I'm on about putter 12, and I actually have a brand new putter in the bag. It's a TaylorMade Ghost and it's doing great."
"This means everything. This tournament is the reason I started playing golf and just being here is special this year."
"It's as much for the family as it is for me - it's unbelievable to be standing here right now."

adidas Golf Brings Comfort and Style to the Range and the Golf Course with Rangewear adidas Golf Introduces Rangewear, A New Category Of Yoga-Inspired Golf Athletic Performance Pieces That Offer Comfort And Style On And Off The Course
CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 10, 2010) – After researching consumer demands in the golf market, discovered there was a need for an option that golfers could wear when practicing. So, adidas Golf created Rangewear, a lightweight, comfortable jacket and pant combination that gives golfers performance and style specifically when on the driving range.
"When we looked at what people were wearing on the range, we found a gap between the recognized, complete golf outfit and something casual to practice in," said Patricia Dahan, Senior Director of Global Apparel. "It became about being comfortable and relaxed and Rangewear delivers on all of those promises. Golfers can be comfortable and stylish when practicing and still benefit from the performance they would expect from adidas Golf apparel."
Men's Rangewear consists of a slightly-fitted, lightweight polyester jacket and pant featuring 3-Stripes branding. The Rangewear jacket comes equipped with an internal MP3 pocket with a pass-through eyelet for headphones, giving golfers the opportunity to tune in to music and tune everything else out. The Rangewear Pant includes an elastic waistband with an internal drawstring for comfort and a tee holder on the left pocket. Men's Rangewear pieces also go well with the new ClimaCool T-shirt, 100% polyester CoolMax Extreme jersey, contributing to the comfort, performance and style of the Rangewear concept. Men's Rangewear is offered in one colorway, black, with a MSRP (manufactures suggested retail price) of $65.00 for the Range Wear Jacket and $55.00 for the Range Wear Pant. These products are available only at green grass accounts and golf specialty accounts nationwide.
Women's Rangewear features ClimaLite® technology fabricated with a polyester/Lycra® blend making the fabric highly-breathable and lightweight to help wick moisture away from the skin. Both jacket and pant have a yoga-inspired fit to add a stylish look and include contrast adidas brandmarking. Like men's, the women's jacket is also equipped with an internal MP3 pocket with a pass through eyelet for headphones. The pant also includes an elastic waistband with an internal drawstring for comfort and a tee holder on the left pocket. Women's Rangewear is offered in two colorways, black and navy, with an MSRP of $70.00 for the ClimaLite Rangewear Jacket and $55.00 for the ClimaLite Rangewear Pant.
Both men's and women's Rangewear are available now.
With the recent completion of the 74th Masters, and the 2010 PGA TOUR® season underway, we would like to congratulate our tour staff on another successful showing at one of the world's top events and a great start to the season.
How successful? Consider this... at the 2010 Masters, Mitsubishi Rayon won the driver shaft count, the total shaft count, and The Diamana® Series was the #1 driver shaft brand in-play. Add to this the fact that just fewer than 40% of the entire field used at least one Mitsubishi Rayon shaft we'd say quite a successful showing! Yet Mitsubishi's success so far this season extends well beyond just the Masters. So far on the PGA TOUR we have had 3 Driver Shaft Wins and have won the driver shaft count at 11 of the first 16 official events including both WGC's events.
Along with the recent activity on tour, Mitsubishi Rayon has been very busy with the launch of our latest additions to our Fubuki™ product line - The Alpha Series. This latest shaft in the series marries a unique bend profile developed exclusively for the Alpha Series with Mitsubishi Rayon's proprietary "Acceleration Technology" to help maximize head speed. Adding and additional application of M.D.T technology throughout the entire length of the shaft, the new Fubuki Alpha profile delivers increased stability at impact in addition to the high launch/low spin characteristics associated with the entire Fubuki Series.
We are also pleased to have begun shipping both the Fubuki AX fairway woods, and the Fubuki AX iron series shaft as well. Now for the first time, the Fubuki Series can deliver tour performance in all three shaft categories, driver shafts, fairway woods and irons. All designed for the perfect weight balance throughout your entire set. Be sure to visit our website at www.mitsubishirayon.com for the latest information on Mitsubishi Rayon and the Fubuki AX fairway and Fubuki AX iron shafts. Source: Darrell Survey Reports
"under the Microscope on the Nationwide Tour at the Chitmacha Louisiana Open" • 5 of the top 8 players used Mitsubishi products in their driver. • Mitsubishi had 43 players using their shafts this week in their drivers, the closest competitor had 24. • Mitsubishi also had the most wood shafts in play this week, a total 86.
TaylorMade Penta TP a Dramatic Success with Tour Pros and Consumers
The First and Only Five-Layer Tour Ball Earned Gold in Golf Digest's June 2010 "Hot List” and Helped Nearly Double the Company's Marketshare Since February 2009
CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 4, 2010) – TaylorMade Golf's Penta TP golf ball, already widely embraced by consumers and on professional Tours worldwide, has earned a Gold rating in Golf Digest magazine's annual golf ball "Hot List." Penta TP was the category leader in the Performance and Feel categories and was the only ball in its class (Tour) to receive three five-star ratings (Performance, Feel and Innovation).
Nearly every member of TaylorMade's Tour Staff is playing Penta TP, and three have won with it this year: Martin Kaymer at the Abu Dhabi Championship, Dustin Johnson at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and Y.E. Yang at the Volvo China Open.
Consumer demand for Penta TP escalated quickly after the ball was introduced, in the Sunbelt states only, early this year. By the end of February, after availability had expanded to all 50 states, TaylorMade's golf ball marketshare had nearly doubled in on- and off-course sales compared to last year.* In March, Penta TP was the third-highest selling urethane ball in the U.S. marketplace** behind only Pro V1 and Pro V1x, and TaylorMade's golf ball manufacturing facility in Duncan, S.C. is working 24/7 to keep up with the demand.
"The immediate validation from consumers and our Tour Staff professionals confirmed findings that Penta TP's five-layer construction promotes excellent distance and control to all types of players," said Bill Price, senior director of golf ball and putters. "We believe Penta TP is the most complete ball in golf, and the fact that it was honored with a Gold rating in this year's Golf Ball Hot List, and was rated so highly in all categories, really validates that point."
Penta TP's performance is rooted in its five-layer construction — cover, outer mantle, middle mantle, inner mantle and core – which is engineered to optimize performance in five key shot categories that skilled players need – driver, long-irons, middle-irons, short-irons and partial wedges. Created for Tour professionals, Penta TP is a great ball for every level of player. You don't have to be a fast swinger to achieve excellent distance with Penta TP, and it delivers the kind of spin in the scoring zone that a distance ball can't compete with, giving shorter hitters the added control to get up-and-down more often. The same goes for higher handicappers – the extra spin Penta TP promotes will only improve the quality of their short shots, helping them score lower.
